Google takes stake in Baidu

Google, the world's most widely used internet search engine, has taken a stake in leading Chinese counterpart Baidu.com, opening the way for potential co-operation between the two rivals.

"The investment, I would say, is a first step. We are going to explore other collaboration opportunities," said Robin Li, Baidu founder and CEO.
