Belgian PM to form interim government

Belgium’s outgoing prime minister will form an interim national government in an effort to end a political deadlock triggered by divisive election results in June.

Guy Verhofstadt, a Liberal, on Monday accepted King Albert II’s request to set up a federal administration to address urgent matters, and to start talks to lead to institutional reform.
