Over six decades, Emap has gone from humble roots, through a thrusting period of international expansion, to break-up and now extinction.

Alun Cathcart, executive chairman, said: “There will be some sadness among our long-serving employees, who have all been very loyal to Emap but I have to say that shareholders have rights too.”
