Nashik: $493m
The “wine capital of India”. Renowned for table grapes, it now has a fast growing wine industry accounting for 60 per cent of the wine produced in India. The city’s economy is driven chiefly by the engineering and manufacturing industry, and fruit, tomato and onion growing. Mahindra & Mahindra, Bosch and luggage brands VIP and Samsonite have factories in the area. It is also being developed for rose cultivation.

Ahmedabad: $184m
The state of Gujarat, of which Ahmedabad is the capital, is often referred to as the one easiest to do business in. The textiles industry has earned it the city the title of “Manchester of the East” in the past, but today its strengths are in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, engineering and the gems and jewellery industry.
