Good weather forecasts spur crop price falls

There were sharp price falls for agricultural commodities on Monday after weather reports pointed to excellent growing conditions for wheat, soyabean and corn.

Base metals had mixed fortunes, with lead hitting an all-time high while copper fell and aluminium consolidated. On the energy market, oil prices rose above $78 a barrel, to within a whisker of their all-time high.
