Fined £3,500 . . . just for trying to boost their retirement pot

Amajor pension provider has come under fire for levying a 10 per cent fee on policyholders who try to boost their pension funds near retirement.

Clerical Medical - a division of HBOS - takes the cut from one-off contributions, as opposed to regular payments, made by policyholders in the two years before retirement.
