SEC accuses Azteca of civil fraud

Shares in Azteca TV, Mexico's second-largest broadcaster, fell 9 per cent on Tuesday after the US Securities and Exchange alleged that its chairman fraudulently repurchased the company's own debt.

The civil action by the US financial regulator could prove to be a landmark in efforts to improve Mexico's corporate governance.
