Dutch fire salvo at London’s tax cut

The UK’s cut in value added tax and the do-nothing approach of some European Union states to the financial crisis have been criticised by Wouter Bos, Dutch finance minister.

Mr Bos told the Financial Times that allowing EU member states room to set their own priorities had in principle been the right course of action but meant Europe had failed to agree on common responses to the economic crisis. This had hampered attempts to tackle events.
