Turkey cancels national lottery tender

Turkey on May 7 cancelled a tender to operate its national lottery after both bidders refused to match a minimum price of $1.622bn, set without warning during the live auction.

Christos Hadjiemmanuil, chief executive of the Greek gaming monopoly OPAP, slammed the privatisation administration’s handling of the process and said the price asked was “completely beyond reasonable expectations”.
