Concern grows in China over consumer inflation

China has reported the highest year-on-year rise in consumer prices in more than seven years, highlighting concerns about inflationary pressures on the economy.

However, while consumer prices were up 5.3 per cent year on year in July, the highest level since early 1997, they declined 0.2 per cent compared with June - the third such monthly fall in a row.
