Hunting for right price to end ABN bid saga

When Royal Bank of Scotland launched its break-up bid for ABN Amro at the end of May, its offer valued the Dutch bank at €38.40 per share.

Since then, the European banking sector has lost 10 per cent of its value as investors look for signs of stress and strain as a result of the recent market turmoil.
