Novel measures to stave off job cuts

Manufacturers are introducing innovative measures to cut costs while staving off the threat of deep job cuts, according to the barometer findings.

Of the 55 companies in the survey, nine have introduced short-time working, while others have brought in across-the-board wage reductions in a similar effort to match their cost structure to shrinking sales.
