The idea behind publishing lists of best workplaces is that by celebrating best practice, other organisations will see the benefits and follow suit. This will improve the lives of employees.

This has been the goal of the Great Place to Work Institute since it started conducting its employee driven surveys - it asks questions of employers, too - more than 20 years ago.
