Gourmet Lang set for taste of defeat

Four days before the second and final round of France’s parliamentary elections, Jack Lang is licking his lips. Not at the prospect of victory. The race for his Boulogne constituency is uncomfortably close.

The Socialist incumbent and former arts and education minister is looking forward to lunch: tête de veau, or poached veal’s head – a classic rustic dish that was also a favourite of Jacques Chirac, the former president.
