Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of EasyJet and owner of EasyGroup, on Sunday night said claims that he was running out of cash were “unfounded”.

In his first detailed response to the row that has erupted in the EasyJet boardroom, Sir Stelios also said he did not want to return as chairman of the UK low cost carrier.
