Burberry is to cut UK manufacturing jobs to cope with faltering sales as wealthy customers hold back on luxury-goods purchases.

The British brand, famous for its trench coats and plaid patterns, on Tuesday announced a “massive restructuring programme” that will see up to 290 redundancies at a sewing facility in Rotherham and up to 250 job losses in Spain, producing £30m to £35m of cost savings.
