Vietnam moves to rein in surge in blogging

Vietnam’s limited political space is getting smaller. The government has cracked down on the country’s vibrant cyber community, closing websites and imprisoning those who use the internet to challenge the Communist party.

For years, the internet has been relatively free of the government control pervasive elsewhere in Vietnam. But several recent decrees have curtailed free speech by the country’s fast-growing number of bloggers.
