German business morale tumbles

German business confidence has tumbled this month to the lowest for almost two years but not far enough to suggest the European Central Bank is wrong in assuming eurozone growth will remain robust into next year.

The Munich-based Ifo institute’s “business climate” index for the eurozone’s largest economy dropped unexpectedly from 104.2 in November to 103.0 – the weakest since January 2006.
