ASIA-PACIFIC Pakistan’s security services including its army on Saturday were preparing to be deployed at short notice to use force and block any attempt by Taliban militants to spread beyond the country’s northern Swat valley, a senior government official said.
The region is at the centre of international concern over the possibility of Islamic militancy taking charge of the nuclear-armed state.
