Citigroup scraps Rubin's old role in move to simplify structure

Citigroup moved yesterday to simplify its cumbersome corporate hierarchy by axing a board directorate headed by Robert Rubin and giving the former US Treasury secretary the new title of "senior counselor".

Mr Rubin, who will remain a Citi director, has received more than $118m in salary, bonus and stock-based compensation since joining the US financial services group in 1999 as chairman of the board's executive committee.
