Mandelson demands aid for business

The government must show that UK-based companies are being helped to benefit from key procurement and regulatory decisions or it will “lose public support for globalisation”, Lord Mandelson said on Wednesday.

The business secretary insisted that his call to show the “domestic advantages of an open global economy” was not a coded defence of protectionism. “Our new industrial activism will never become a new economic nationalism,” Lord Mandelson told a Mansion House audience.
