US resumes talks with Burma

The US reopened high-level engagement with Burma yesterday after a 14-year freeze.

Kurt Campbell, the US assistant secretary of state for east Asian and Pacific affairs, arrived in the Burmese capital, Naypyidaw, for a two-day visit during which he will meet government officials, opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and the country's ethnic minorities.
