Lawsuit could delay Sprint, Nextel merger

Nextel Partners, the mobile phone group that shares its network and technology with Nextel Communications, stepped up the pressure on Nextel Communications and Sprint filing a lawsuit against the two companies that could delay the proposed merger.

Nextel Partners, which mainly serves customers in second tier US cities, claimed that the proposed $35bn acquisition by Sprint of Nextel Communications violates agreements between Nextel Communications and Nextel Partners.
