Curb on content threatens France Telecom

France Telecom’s strategy of slowing the decline in its domestic fixed-line business by offering football and films through pay television is under threat, after the French competition authority on Tuesday signalled a clampdown on exclusive content deals.

The former monopoly triggered a furore from competitors last year when it started to offer football matches exclusively to subscribers to its broadband internet and television packages.
