Tory defector to lead Britain in Europe's fight on EU constitution

A former Conservative minister who defected to Labour has been picked by Britain in Europe to chair the lobby group in its battle against public scepticism about the new European Union constitution.

Anthony Nelson, an investment banker who was a Tory MP for 23 years, said he wanted to demonstrate to voters how the constitutional treaty would "protect and promote Britain's interests in Europe".
