ECB likely to hold interest rates steady

The eurozone has slipped significantly closer to recession but there is little sign that the European Central Bank will this week dramatically change its view on the inflation outlook for the 15-country region.

The ECB governing council is widely expected to hold its main interest rate unchanged at 4.25 per cent at its meeting on Thursday.
