I discovered seasons when I moved here but aside from that the culture shock was minimal. Danes tend to be as laid-back as Australians. Adelaide has an almost Mediterranean climate and you wear T-shirts most of the year. That’s not the case here. It’s interesting to see an entire population change mood in November. People become depressed. They’re more sullen in the streets and shops. But by May they’re high on sunshine and really fun to be around. The snow – when there is some – brightens up the winters and is preferable to endless grey skies. I ride my bike everywhere, even in bad weather.
