Telecom Italia yesterday announced a steep cut in its dividend as it seeks funds to aid the company's relaunch after months of turmoil.

Italy's dominant telecoms operator said the percentage of 2007 net income paid to shareholders would be 67 per cent, a huge cut from 90 per cent in 2006.
