McCain warns voters of 'dangerous threesome'

John McCain switched tack yesterday in the face of poll forecasts that his presidential hopes were evaporating, warning voters of a "dangerous threesome" if they put Democrats in charge of both White House and Congress.

With some forecasting a potential Democratic landslide in a week's time, Mr McCain said the election risked handing power to "the most liberal person ever to run for the presidency" and strengthening liberals already running the Senate and the House.
