Poor suffer penalty for lackof access to financial services

Banks and other private sector organisations have been urged to work with "social brokers", such as housing providers, to help those on low incomes gain better access to mainstream financial services.

The call comes from the Scottish Council Foundation, an independent think-tank, in a report into why the poor tend to pay more for banking, borrowing and household fuel.
