HK bank stocks gain from takeover talk

Takeover speculation and optimism about the outlook for 2010 helped push Hong Kong banking stocks higher this week, providing support to the wider equity market.

The Hang Seng rose 0.7 per cent on Friday to close at 22,553.63, giving it a weekly rise of 3.3 per cent.
