Barclays takes aim at Wall St

Barclays Capital outlined its boldest ambition yet, as Bob Diamond, Barclays' president, announced a plan to displace the likes of Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan from the top slots in investment banking.

"Our aim is clear - it's to be the premier global investment bank over the next couple of years," Mr Diamond told analysts and shareholders at yesterday's BarCap investor day in New York.
