Three months after missing her first opportunity to become Israel’s premier, Tzipi Livni is vying for a second chance.

Ms Livni, Israel’s foreign minister and the head of the ruling centrist Kadima party, failed in October to form a new government coalition to replace the one led by Ehud Olmert, who resigned as premier in September amid corruption scandals. Her botched coalition-building bid prompted Israel’s president to call for new elections, more than a year ahead of schedule.
