Media groups stand firm against piracy

The entertainment industry’s sense of euphoria was palpable. A group of movie studios and record labels had just been handed a sweeping victory in their long legal battle against internet piracy – and they wanted the world to know it.

“Today’s unanimous ruling is an historic victory for intellectual property in the digital age, and is good news for consumers, artists, innovation and lawful internet businesses,” crowed the Motion Picture Association of America last week.
