Singh vows to press on with US nuclear pact

Manmohan Singh, India’s prime minister, promised on Wednesday to pursue a landmark civil nuclear pact with the US, despite warnings from officials in Washington that time had run out to finalise the deal before President George W. Bush leaves office.

“Our domestic politics has prevented us from going ahead,” said Mr Singh. But he would continue “to hope that we will make progress in the months  . . . ahead”.
