Rival camps chart divergent paths to budget deficit targets

An Obama administration would aim to deliver a budget deficit of less than 2.5 per cent of gross domestic product by the end of its first term, Austan Goolsbee, a senior economic adviser, said on Wednesday..

Mr Goolsbee said this would be consistent with the campaign's goal of seeking to stabilise the ratio of debt to GDP.
