Venture capitalists ‘caught in crossfire’

Venture capitalists have warned they risk suffering collateral damage as a result of the European Commission’s campaign to regulate the alternative investment industry.

VC groups – providers of early-stage financing to start-ups, often before they make any revenue – say they have been inadvertently caught up in the hunt by Brussels regulators to pin the blame for the credit crunch on hedge funds and buyout groups.
