Housing recovery hopes hit by supply snag

Estate agents are increasingly optimistic that the housing market is recovering but a shortage of supply may be producing a falsely buoyant picture, according to a survey published on Tuesday.

The proportion of agents who said house prices fell in July was still 8 per cent higher than those who saw a rise, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors monthly report showed.
