‘Patient’ Lula seeks to survive scandal

Faced with Brazil's worst political crisis in more than a decade, president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Thursday he would neither resign nor commit suicide, as former Brazilian presidents had done in reponse to scandals.

"The truth will appear. If it depended on my patience, it could take one month, three months or two years, it doesn't matter."
