An Israeli military court on Tuesday ordered the release of 21 Hamas officials, including three cabinet ministers, who were imprisoned following the capture of an Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip in June.

Palestinians hope the release of the Hamas men, coupled with the eventual formation of a national unity government, could lead to the end of an economic siege imposed by the west after Hamas took sole control of the Palestinian Authority in March.
