With consolidation in airlines and travel agencies already well under way in Spain, bankers and hotel operators say the accommodation segment is next.

The Spanish travel and tourism sector has suffered acutely, with the number of foreign visitors to Spain down 10 per cent year-on-year in the first eight months of the year. Business travel has been particularly weak.
