MAN has agreed to buy Volkswagen’s Brazilian truck and bus business to boost its global scale and mark a step in the consolidation of the industry.

The Munich-based truck-making and engineering group gave no purchase price for the business, which it said had an enterprise value of €1.175bn ($1.6bn). The transfer will take place on Jan 1.
