Landlord role for pension funds

Pension funds and other investment companies will be encouraged to become landlords of large residential estates as part of government plans to alleviate the housing crisis though the creation of an institutional private rented sector.

The initiative, formally launched by the Homes and Communities Agency on Friday, it is hoped will attract significant investment into the housing market by encouraging institutions to fund new homes specifically for private rent.
