Slump hits property developers

When Sean Dunne, an Irish property developer, paid a record €367m for a Dublin hotel in 2005, he probably did not expect Ireland’s best known financier to object to his plans.

But Dermot Desmond is one of a number of local residents who are opposed to the building of a 37-floor apartment block in leafy Victorian Dublin – and his intervention is probably the least of Mr Dunne’s worries.
