Russian oil industry tax cuts backed by energy minister

Viktor Khristenko, Russia's industry and energy minister, has thrown his weight behind proposed tax cuts for the oil industry in an effort to revive production as growth peters out.

Mr Khristenko yesterday told Bloomberg television the cuts were needed to overcome production "stagnation".
