South Korea yesterday unveiled plans to invest Won107,000bn in “green growth” areas over the next five years as it seeks to generate growth from alternative energy and other environment-friendly projects.

President Lee Myung-bak has been campaigning for a so-called Green New Deal to create future growth drivers and new jobs in an effort to ride out the economic slump.
