Dubai’s ruler names son crown prince

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, on Friday named his second son crown prince, anointing Hamdan bin Mohammed as the man most likely to succeed him as the head of state of the trade, tourism and services hub.

The move will ease concerns that an unclear succession posed a risk to this tolerant business centre, which is riding the region’s wave of petrodollars.
