Culture: Schubertiade has something for the music lover

The two horn players summoning members of the audience to their seats add a touch of Bayreuth. But in spite of the deference to the famous Wagner-fest in Germany, where a brass chorale paves the way for performances, Austria’s Schubertiade is unique.

Unlike Bayreuth and Wagner, the Schubertiade, held in the small village of Schwarzenberg in the western Vorarlberg province, does not showcase the works of just one composer.
