US urges Taiwan to approve arms budget

The US has sent its sternest appeal yet to Taiwan to approve funds for an arms procurement package delayed for more than five years.

“Taiwan needs to pass a robust defence budget in this fall’s legislative session,” said Stephen Young, director of the American Institute in Taiwan, Washington’s quasi-embassy in Taipei.
