Alberta to give its residents C$400 oil bonus

The oil-rich Canadian province of Alberta is to spend part of its energy bonanza on a C$400 (US$342, €282, £190) “prosperity bonus” for each of its 3.2m residents.

“We're doing a one-time investment because we have one-time riches,” the province's premier, Ralph Klein, said as he announced another upward revision in this year's projected budget surplus.
